His Excellency, Dr. Sultan Mohammed-Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, described the Center’s participation in this important cultural event as a reflection of its goal to serve UAE society. Events such as the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair facilitate knowledge sharing, as books are a prime source of knowledge, particularly in enhancing understanding of our environment and global developments.

H.E. Dr. Al-Nuaimi added that Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is considered one of the most important book fairs globally, given the wide participation it attracts from international publishing houses. It is an important platform for authors and publishers to present their work to a wide audience, characterized by the UAE’s diversity of cultures and varied interests.

H.E. Dr. Al-Nuaimi stressed that the Center aims to build a knowledgeable society, under the guidance of the UAE’s wise leadership, by encouraging reading in society. The Center is part of an integrated national framework that assists in shaping a generation of worldly, well-read Emiratis. It provides Emirati society with scientific and cultural resources that are easily accessible, and facilitates positive interaction between concerned bodies in key areas of research. Thus, the Center contributes to enhancing the exchange of ideas and experiences, helping to build a society that respects knowledge.

The ECSSR’s stand, E35 within Hall 9, will display a collection of its most recent publications, in both Arabic and English. These outstanding publications are the result of detailed research and analysis on various regional and international strategic, political, economic and social issues that concern the UAE and GCC countries. The ECSSR will also exhibit books that document the key conferences and scientific symposia held throughout the its 27-year history. A number of editions of Strategic Visions, its bi-annual journal, will also be exhibited, which addresses political, economic, legal, social, media, and security issues, as well as cyber technology concerns.

Among the many books exhibited by the Center, one of the most important is With United Strength: His Highness, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Leader and the Nation, published in ten languages (Arabic, English, German, French, Korean, Italian, Russian, Urdu, Hindi and Montenegrin). The book provides an in-depth examination of the vital role played by Sheikh Zayed (may God rest his soul in peace) in realizing the dream of a united Emirates. Other books on display will include The Life of Zayed: The Development of his People and the Founding of a Nation, and Zayed the Founder. In both books, the reader can discover the features that distinguish Sheikh Zayed’s legacy.
