The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) Publishes Issue 33 of Afaq Al-Mustaqbal Magazine

As part of its determined efforts to enrich the intellectual and cultural landscape in the United Arab Emirates and greater Middle East, the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) published Issue (33) of Afaq Al-Mustaqbalmagazine.
This issue starts with an editorial by His Excellency Prof. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the ECSSR, under the theme “Smart Government: Constant Efforts,” in which he says the UAE is now admired and appreciated by the whole world due to its excellent government model. He points to the important role played by the wise leadership in incorporating smart technology into the government operational system.
Afaq Al-Mustaqbalmagazine comprises various sections that contain articles on important issues of our time. In Issue (33), there is a section titled “Nothing More, Nothing Less,” which contains two articles: the first is “The Mission of Hazza Al Mansouri… An Important Step in the UAE’s Journey into Space,” and the second is “Federal National Council Elections… A New Step Towards Political Empowerment.” The section “Issues” contains domestic, regional and international articles including “A Reading in the Emiratization Strategy,” “Defeat of Iran’s Project in Yemen,” “Transitional Government and Democratization Great Challenges in Sudan,” and “Drones Advanced Technology and Its Impact on Military Wars and Strategies.”
Another section is titled “Smart Government: Constant Efforts for Better,” which was prepared by a distinguished group of specialists and officials. It contains three articles. The first is “UAE’s Efforts in Developing Artificial Intelligence,” the second is “Abu Dhabi Digital Initiative and Its Different Implications,” and the third is “A Digital Capital for the Region.” This section also has two interviews: one with His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority; and the other with His Excellency Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Director General of Electronic Services and Communications at the Ministry of Interior.
In the section “Interview,” His Eminence Prof. Ali Gomaa, the former Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt, member of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif’s Council of Muslim Senior Scholars, talks about tolerance and its role in establishing coherent and harmonious societies. He also discusses the UAE’s efforts in spreading tolerance, both internally and externally.
The “Strategy” section contains two articles. The first is “The Democratic Transition Process in Tunisia in Light of the Presidential Election Results” and the second is “Features of the Conflict between the US President and Congress on External and Internal Issues and Its Repercussions.” The “Visions” section includes the article “Co-existence as a Means for Political Fullness,” while the “Economy” section has two articles: “The Trade Dispute between the US and China and Its Impact on the Global Economy” and “The Future of the British Economy in Light of Brexit.”
This issue also includes a review of Women and Development,a book by His Excellency Prof. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi,the Director General of the ECSSR,in which he discusses the important role women have in economic development, including their participation in the workforce in the GCC countries.
Finally, the “Culture and Arts” section presents a profile of the late Emirati writer Habib Al-Sayegh, an article on the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi, and other articles related to sports, technology, media, and current affairs.
