Seventh ID World Abu Dhabi Summit Explores Latest 'Smart' ID Cards and Digital Identification Systems

The Emirates Identity Authority will host the Seventh ID World Abu Dhabi Summit on 24-25 February 2014 at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR).
Government ministers from seven different countries, high profile representatives of the United Nations and the European Commission, the Interpol and other leading organizations from around 35 countries will participate in the European Commission-endorsed Summit which is organized by Wise Media.
The Summit addresses decision makers, industry leaders and key influencers from around the world. It discusses the latest developments in the fields of advanced identity systems, manufacturing of 'smart' ID cards and digital identification systems.
The Summit explores new avenues for sustainable development in the international, regional and local contexts. Its extensive program features dedicated agendas for its different forums: Sustainability and Advanced ID Systems, Future Cities Conference and the Global Migration Summit as well as the 4th Abu Dhabi Postal Innovation Conference. Around 30 global companies will exhibit their latest ID technologies on the sidelines of the Summit.
Emirates ID said that the 7th Summit will discuss the latest �Smart' ID systems and their applications at the global level, the latest developments in ID authentication in the virtual world and the impact of ICT on this industry. It will also discuss sustainable development requirements, promoting applied education in advanced ID systems, fostering innovation and promoting public-private collaboration for more sustainable development across the world's societies and economies.
The Emirates Identity Authority has emphasized that the UAE leadership under President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan puts sustainable development at the heart of its strategy in order to develop all sectors for the benefit of the UAE and its citizens.
Emirates ID noted that this international event supports the global efforts that seek to find solution to sustainable development requirements and the reserving natural resources for future generations. The Authority adopts sustainability standards in all its processes, activities and buildings The Summit is in line with Emirates ID efforts aimed at supporting knowledge economy in the UAE, enhance the culture of digital identity, promote the Authority's projects and initiatives and its future role in supporting eGovernment as well as its keenness to exchange expertise and learning about the best international practices in the field of advanced digital identities.
Sophie B. de la Giroday, President of Wise Media said that Abu Dhabi has been chosen to host this international event because it's a city with a vision for a multicultural future society. "The Summit's take on sustainable development is to do with leveraging big data and modern ICT instruments, such as digital identities," she added.Giroday called for more concerted efforts from all over the world to contribute collectively to achieving sustainable development.
The Global ID Summit is held annually in 3 countries in addition to the UAE; Italy, Brazil and Germany. It aims to follow up on the latest digital identity systems, address the challenges that face entities involved in advanced ID projects around the world. It also highlights best practices and the latest safety and security systems used to support ID and public registers and their role in enhancing the security of societies and the identities of their citizens.
