Well-deserved Honor for Continuous Generosity

The honor conferred upon Her Highness Mother of the Nation Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, at the Women’s Conference in Ras Al-Khaimah, is a deserved recognition of her outstanding and pioneering efforts to empower Emirati woman so that they attain highest standards in all walks of life. Her Highness Sheikha Fatima’s vision knows no boundaries and is evident in many projects, initiatives and achievements made by Emirati woman.

Anyone who has followed the UAE’s march towards progress can see the leading and vital role she has played in encouraging women’s participation in all walks of life, whether economic, social, political cultural or related to the environment. This has brought dignity, freedom and equality for women. Perhaps one of the most important characteristics of her vision is that it is conscious and integrated. It notes that a woman’s success at home is inseparable from her success in the society. Hence we find that their participation and empowerment is compatible with her being a mother, wife, and a working member of the family and society.

The Emirati woman has been lucky to receive the support of Mother of the Nation over the years. The year 1973 witnessed the opening of the first women’s association due to her pioneering initiative, which led to a strategy launched by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God bless his soul), who fully supported enhancement of women’s role in the society. “Nothing could delight me more than to see the woman taking up her distinctive position in society. Nothing should hinder her progress,” the late Sheikh Zayed once said. Since then hundreds of initiatives have been launched that have lead to many accomplishments. The UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may God protect him), continues its development march, taking woman as partners in progress.

The UAE has benefited from the efforts made by Her Excellency Dr. Amal Abdullah Al-Qubaisi who was elected this month as the Chairperson of the Federal National Council, the first in the Arab world. It has deservedly been acknowledged by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, which is an honor for Emirati and Arab woman. These achievements are the result of the efforts made by the Mother of the Nation. There is no economic, social, political or cultural institution in the UAE which doesn’t witness serious and active participation of women and they work alongside men for the advancement of the society. All Emirati women must hail the support the Mother of the Nation has given and congratulate Her Highness for her efforts.
