UAE Holds First Position in the eyes of the Arab Youth

  • 9 April 2014

The UAE has emerged as the favourite country to live in for most Arab youth, according to the Asda’a Burson-Marsteller Arab Youth Survey, conducted by international polling firm Penn Schoen Berland (PSB). The UAE was also ranked first as a model nation among Arab youth as the place they would want their own country to be like. The survey also found that UAE nationals were the most positive about their future.

The importance of this survey stems from many basic considerations. First, the UAE has maintained its position as the favourite country to live in for most Arab youth for the third year in a row. This confirms the UAE’s potential to maintain the attractive factors such as security, stability, development, infrastructure, positive cultural values and others. This is in addition to continuity in the highest international standards of modern living.

Second, the UAE has surpassed certain advanced countries, such as the United States of America, France, Britain, Germany and others in this domain. This confirms the principle on which our wise leadership always relies, namely, nothing is impossible when it comes to development provided there is the will, good planning and optimal investment of resources. It also affirms that the UAE is not just looking to achieve first rank regionally, but aspires to occupy the top position at the global level.

Third, the UAE has become a role model to which everyone looks up to in terms of development and has surpassed major countries such as the United States, China, France and others. This hasn’t been achieved out of nowhere but is the result of a clear, comprehensive and ambitious development vision, as well as political, security and social stability based on well-established and deeply-rooted factors.

Another important factor is that it relates to youth in the age group of 14 and 24 years. This age group is full of enthusiasm, thinks of the future and is ready to embrace the changes taking place around us. Given that the Arab youth chose the UAE as the favorite country to live in, most of them would also like their own countries to be the same. This establishes the soundness of the UAE’s approach as it has gained acceptance and admiration of the youth who make the present and are the future.

The survey discovered that UAE nationals were the most positive about their future. This shows the extent to which they feel satisfied and happy with their country. Credible global indicators confirm this phenomenon. The UAE ranks first among Arab countries and 17th worldwide in the United Nations survey on happiness and satisfaction around the world in 2013. The UAE has also had unprecedented achievements in human development – termed ‘very high’ in the Human Development Report released by the UNDP. Several other reports have confirmed that the UAE is an oasis of development, stability and optimism.
