The UAE Remembers Sacrifices Made by its Children
- 23 December 2014
The United Arab Emirates always acknowledges the sacrifices made by its children. It gives them the brightest place in its annals of history and stands by them in times of adversity. This was evident in the keenness with which senior officials offered condolences to martyrs of the nation; First Lieutenant Pilot Saif Khalaf Saif Al-Zaabi of Kalba and First Lieutenant Pilot Abdullah Ali Al-Hammoudi of Fujairah. Both pilots died in an aircraft mishap during a joint UAE-Egypt military exercise. The incident reminded us of First-Lieutenant Tariq Al Shehhi, a UAE national who was killed in a terror attack while serving with the Gulf Force in Bahrain in March 2014. On that occasion too, the UAE government stood by the martyr’s family and treated his death as loss of the entire nation. Moreover, each and every UAE citizen shared grief and stood by their side.
The UAE treats its martyrs with high regard and expresses its gratitude in many ways. The country never forgets its loyal sons who have given their lives for the sake of the nation and sees this as a noble value for the hearts and minds of the youth. The intrinsic value of loyalty is entrenched in the UAE society and is evident in the attitude and policies of the wise leadership and the action of its citizens. This is an essential component of national identity and a core component of interdependence and social cohesion. Third, our wise leadership puts the UAE citizen at the heart of their policies and programs and gives it the top priority. They are considered real wealth of the nation and a shield against any external threat. As a result, the country views the loss of any citizen as the loss of the nation.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, while offering his condolences to the families of First Lieutenant Pilot Saif Khalaf Saif Al Zaabi and First Lieutenant Pilot Abdullah Ali Al Hammoudi, emphasized that the UAE nationals are prepared to sacrifice their lives for the sake of their country’s sovereignty, pride and glory. He noted that their love and loyalty for their nation and leaders is coupled with their strong belief in Almighty Allah. The great enthusiasm demonstrated by the UAE’s youth for national service, their dedication toward training operations and the way they welcomed its announcement, show their patriotism and their readiness to sacrifice for preserving the country’s achievements.
