The Strong Foundations of UAE Foreign Relations
- 13 April 2015
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, upon receiving Sauli Niinistö, the President of the Republic of Finland, yesterday at Mushrif Palace, emphasized four key principles of the UAE’s foreign policy which reflect its role regionally and internationally and explain the effectiveness with which it builds strong partnerships with several countries worldwide.
The UAE, under the leadership of H.H. President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, builds political relations and economic ties with peace-loving countries and nations on the basis of solidarity, friendship, cooperation, tolerance and openness, serving mutual interests as well as the welfare of humanity. This has ensured the UAE’s role as an active player in establishing security, stability and development both in the region and globally.
The UAE seeks relations with advanced countries, seeking to benefit from their pioneering development experiences. In this respect, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE is keen to have strong relations with the Republic of Finland and to strengthen mutual cooperation by establishing new partnerships and sharing experiences in the fields of education, innovation and healthcare, effectively securing knowledge transfer. It is well known that Finland has an advanced economy and an established experience with education, technology, clean energy, mining and energy efficiency, and these are areas the UAE focuses on in its efforts to build a sustainable knowledge-based economy.
The UAE is keen on exchanging views with friendly states on regional issues. In this respect, the talks between H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and President Niinistö covered all issues and developments regionally and internationally, focusing on the situation in Yemen, extremism and terrorism. The UAE can then utilize these relations to find solutions for regional crises and confront threats to international peace and security.
As the UAE is keen to build partnerships with all nations of the world, it presents an inspiring development model for many countries seeking to establish relations with it and benefit from its resources and capabilities. President Niinistö praised UAE development and expressed Finland’s interest in strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries in all fields, particularly in terms of the economy, education and healthcare. The President indicated that there would be more successful projects and partnerships between the two countries, as well as investment opportunities which would achieve mutual progress and prosperity in all fields.
The UAE’s foreign policy is a model of strength and success thanks to the wise vision of the UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This explains the UAE’s ability to build a broad network of strategic partnerships with countries around the world, which contributes to its economy and enhanced regional and international status.
