The Important Role of Training Nationals

Since its inception in March 1994, the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) has played a vital role in training nationals, thanks to its desire to contribute toward service of the community and national development plans. The ECSSR has always been keen to actively fulfill aspirations of the UAE’s wise leadership, under President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, (may God protect him), which is consistent with the leadership’s appreciation of the pivotal role scientific research and those imparting it play in this process of development.

With a view to fulfill this role, Director General of the ECSSR His Excellency Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi on Sunday inaugurated a number of training courses as part of the Center’s annual training program. The courses included in the program are the following: Scientific Research Diploma, Diploma in Management and Diploma in Administration. All these programs are aimed at honing the skills of national cadres and equip them with useful experience that would help them cope up with the challenges they face while taking up important positions.

At the beginning of the program, H.E. Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi reiterated the ECSSR’s willingness to train individuals nominated by any institution in the UAE, GCC and Arab countries. It is open for those seeking qualification to become researchers, managers and leaders through advanced scientific programs and curricula under the supervision of ECSSR academics and experts. This reflects the significant role the ECSSR plays in preparing and training the UAE nationals. The Center does so because of its firm belief that training is a key component of human resource development and is critical to all aspects of progress.

Since its establishment, the ECSSR has understood the significance of keeping pace with advancements taking place around the world. For almost two decades ECSSR has followed an important approach, which is to prepare, train and qualify national cadres in a scientific manner by holding specialized courses to train its own staff and those of various institutions in the UAE. These courses enable the participants to bridge the gap between theory and practice, empower them to be creative and contribute toward the advancement of their organizations. It is more so because the ECSSR training programs are based on methodology and have several interactive components and methods built in it.

The most important methods employed in these training programs include lectures, individual and collective exercises, case studies, small projects, brainstorming sessions, group discussions and simulation techniques. These methods are consistent with the latest techniques being used these days to bolster creativity, innovation and excellence among trainees. This is deemed a set of values that are necessary to improve the performance of any organization in its quest for excellence.

The training program shows that the ECSSR’s approach is based on a constant drive to keep pace with the rapid changes across various fields, particularly education and training. The Center understands that this is the only way to build national cadres in a sound scientific manner. The ECSSR plays a vital role in the UAE’s development process as no progress is possible without qualified human workforce. This is the essence of the phase of empowerment launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who pays utmost attention to the role of UAE citizens in development projects across the country.
