  • 22 October 2013

As part of a comprehensive vision of development, His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, continues to extend his support to the UAE media, recognizing the crucial role it plays in the age of information and communications revolution in terms of the dissemination of knowledge, increasing public awareness, discussion of significant national issues, introduction of the pioneering UAE development experiment to the world, opening up of new avenues for interaction with other cultures and the foiling of attempts by certain agencies that seek to undermine the UAE.

It is in this context that His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his patronage to the 4th Abu Dhabi Media Summit (ADMS) for 2013, which commenced today and would conclude on October 24. The Summit, which is being attended by distinguished experts from the Arab and foreign media, has selected ‘Leveraging the Digital Age’ as its main theme, because the digital media has not only initiated revolutionary breakthroughs but has also engendered new issues and complications. Thus, there is need for more study to identify the favorable and adverse impact of digital breakthroughs in order to enhance the constructive role of the media in the community.

The UAE is keen to enhance the media by making all human, material and technological resources available to it in order to catch up with latest international developments, and to project a clear picture of the UAE’s culture at various levels. The keenness of pioneers in international media and industrialists in attending the Abu Dhabi Media Summit (ADMS) for 2013 and their willingness to make a huge contribution to the event indicate global appreciation and recognition of the great strides the UAE media has made in this field, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The UAE government has provided state-of-the-art infrastructure to promote the growth of both the local and international media operating in the country.

The convening of the Abu Dhabi Media Summit (ADMS) for 2013 under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan signifies the UAE leadership’s positive attitude toward the media and the leadership’s willingness to discuss various issues on promoting its role for disseminating the sublime values of tolerance, dialog and openness and to help maintain global peace, stability and development.
