Government Summit: Intellectual Window to Development Action Plan
- 10 February 2014
The second session of the three-day Government Summit will begin today under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with a number of government officials, ministers, experts and thinkers. The Summit is important not only as it is a window for sharing knowledge, ideas and best practices on innovative government services, but also as a means to get in touch with pioneering experiments in various government actions in order to re-identify the provision of government services in an innovative fashion to serve the community and make it happy – the ultimate goal of the UAE Government.
The new session will handle a number of vital service-related topics such as upgrading the quality of social services, making them accessible and activating health services which is directly related to public health, production and development. Examples of health care service and models at some world-class hospitals and organizations will be provided in order to discuss opportunities and challenges on how to build healthier and happier societies. The Summit will dedicate a session to discuss areas of cooperation and share knowledge and experience among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on smart government in order to find the best way to upgrade services using smart techniques.
The second session of the Government Summit, the topics laid out for discussion by experts and professionals and international experiments on innovative government services reflect the UAE’s philosophy of upgrading government actions. It is based on regular upgrading of government action and making use of pioneering experiments worldwide. A case in point is the initiatives and programs which were launched over the last few years to serve this purpose, such as Sheikh Zayed Program for Government Excellence (SKPGE) which is aimed to enable the government sector to excel in terms of applicable systems, performance, services and outcome by adopting a universal excellence model and launching a number of initiatives to boost creativity, loyalty and excellence among civil servants and upgrade government services in various areas.
The upgrading of government performance and services provided to the community is a top priority of the wise UAE leadership under President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may God bless him) which is willing to apply the latest and best criteria – a target which was highlighted by His Highness the UAE President in his speech in 42nd anniversary of the National Day: “Our ambition does not stop at raising economic growth rate, however crucial, but to raise the standard of living and put the UAE amongst the most developed, secure, fair, educated, cultured and healthiest nations of the world”.
