The remarks made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai (may God protect him), while receiving chairman and members of the Federal National Council (FNC) recently, expresses the philosophy that governs institutions present in the country. These remarks also explain the objectives that are set to be achieved under the wise leadership of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may God protect him) to enhance the UAE’s security and development at all levels.

His Highness said that the first factor is the presence of wise leadership that guides affairs of the nation and citizens in all walks of life. This has been behind the achievements made by the UAE in the fields of trade and economy, culture, science, tourism and urbanization. His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s comprehensive development vision includes maximizing resources and allocating them in the right direction to achieve comprehensive results as well as achieving the target of providing citizens with a decent living and improving their quality of life. The UAE’s federal and local institutions are committed to fulfilling these objectives and the government is keen to follow up on their implementation effectively.

The second aspect, referred to by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is constructive cooperation between the government and the FNC. “The Cabinet and the Federal National Council are complementary to each other, and work as a team for the homeland and its people,” His Highness said. This is evident in the discussions that take place at the FNC where ministers are keen to respond with facts and figures to questions posed by FNC members. Also, FNC recommendations are presented to the government in an orderly manner where concerned ministries to study them and take proactive measures and appropriate decisions.

Such level of cooperation undoubtedly yields positive results for the UAE nationals and ensures that the various policies and strategies take into account their needs and demands. To this effect, His Highness called on chairman of the FNC and its members to identify the needs of citizens and find solutions to bridge the shortcomings, if any, in any area that may affect their lives. He stressed that he and his ministers take suggestions and ideas from any member of the FNC into consideration and make use of them in building the vision and policies that ensure that cultural achievements of the nation are maintained.

The third aspect governing the performance of UAE’s institutional work is excellence, which according to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has led to the UAE occupying top ranks globally in various areas, especially in government, economic and social departments. Surely, excellence is a matter of culture and various institutions are keen to constantly improve their performance. They want to enhance the quality of services provided to the UAE nationals in various fields. At the same time they also contribute toward achieving the ambitious development goals embodied in the ‘Vision 2021’, which seeks to make UAE one of the best countries in the world by the 50th anniversary of its establishment.
