Collaboration in the Service of the Nation

The relationship that exists among various organizations in the UAE is based on the concept of integration and cooperation aimed at serving the country and achieving prosperity, progress and welfare of its citizens. It was in this context that the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs, Dr. Anwar Gargash, lauded the level of transparency among government officials and their response to frequent queries by FNC members. He also praised ministers for taking a keen interest in FNC discussions and engaging positively with the process.

The relationship between FNC and the government has become a model of positive, constructive and cooperation-based understanding of roles and responsibilities of the two sides. It is based on the awareness that supreme national interests must be treated as a priority by all organizations when it comes to planning and performance besides sharing a mutual sense of national responsibility. The government takes immense interest in implementing recommendations made by the FNC on issues of national importance.

These recommendations are invaluable because they are made after intensive studies carried out by ad-hoc committees. On the other hand, FNC is keen to stay abreast of the issues of concern to the masses and those that serve the objectives of its massive development plans. It plays a vital role in representing the UAE in Gulf, Arab and Islamic parliamentary circles. It presents its views and secures international support for the country’s positions, notably regarding the three UAE Islands of Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Moussa, which are occupied by Iran. FNC has indeed proved to be a huge success over the years.

Such a level of cooperation is the direct outcome of the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may God protect him). This vision was expressed in his speech delivered by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at the second session of Chapter 15 of the FNC. The session highlighted FNC’s contribution toward fulfilling the government’s vision and implementation of its policies. FNC has come a long way in fulfilling the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership which best serves the nation's supreme interests.
