Ceaseless Initiatives for the Benefit of Citizens
- 16 October 2014
In a meeting held on Monday, the President’s Initiatives Committee approved launch of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed residential city project in Fujairah worth AED1.4 billion. The initiative shows the care the UAE’s wise leadership, under the guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may God protect him), takes of his people. It also demonstrates his keenness to provide a decent living to his people and develop their quality of life.
The initiative, meant to provide modern housing for citizens in Fujairah, shows that the UAE’s wise leadership adopts a comprehensive approach to distribute the fruits of development among Emiratis across the country. This is due to the value of loyalty and stability in the UAE. Decent living is a key indicator of human and social development and is linked to a society’s stability. It is also considered one of the main yardsticks of the quality of life that should be provided to Emiratis. This explains the exceptional care that the UAE’s wise leadership takes to provide proper housing in each emirate.
Fujairah’s Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed housing city will have modern amenities that are available in the country in general and Fujairah in particular. It will contain 1,100 residential units in addition to schools, mosques, clinics, green areas and shopping centers, as well as a socio-cultural center, a council and an entertainment park. This will be a qualitative addition to Fujairah residents’ housing needs.
Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed city is not different from the numerous initiatives launched by UAE’s wise leadership to improve the lifestyle of citizens. On the occasion of the 42nd National Day in December, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may God protect him), allotted an extra AED20 billion for different projects aimed at providing more facilities to his people.
He also launched an initiative to build 10,000 housing units in each emirate and decided to raise housing subsidies which citizens earn for Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme from AED 500,000-AED 800,000. These initiatives are the result of His Highness’ understanding of the fact that housing is one of the top priorities for all Emirati citizens. The government recently allocated 49 percent of the union budget for the fiscal year 2015 to social benefits and services.
Improving citizens’ quality of life is at the heart of the country’s idea of development and supersedes all other considerations. Indeed, citizens are the most important asset for the country that should be protected and invested in. President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may God protect him), once said that the land without its citizen has no value irrespective of the wealth and resources.
