His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces- may God protect him- visited yesterday the projects of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in the western region of Abu Dhabi where he officially inaugurated Al Hosn Sour Gas Development Project in the Shah field. This new project mirrors the willingness of the UAE to maintain its status as one of the key provides of international energy security. This new project stands as the largest Sour Gas Development Project in the Middle East with considerable added value to the oil and energy sector in the UAE.

Speaking on this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that the UAE under the leadership of His Highness President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan- may God protect him- is forging ahead with strengthening its international status as a key energy exporter, adding that the UAE is committed to developing the oil and gas sector which represent one of the levers of the national economy.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan added that the UAE’s development efforts are based on strong foundations that were laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan- may God bless his soul. His Highness highlighted that the UAE spares no effort to enable the human capital to contribute to the development process and that long term plans are drawn along with the implementation of strategic projects to ensure energy security and sustainable economic and social development.
These remarks show the awareness of the wise UAE leadership of the central status of oil in the national economy fabric. In the past decades the leadership made sure to invest oil revenues to develop industries relating to this resource and invest the returns in development projects.

The opening by His Highness of the Sour Gas Development Project in the Shah field is a new step forward and an expression of the leaderships’s resolve to achieve comprehensive development. Thus, this project is part of a steady endeavor to develop the sector of oil and conventional energy sources. The implementation of this project goes in tandem with the efforts undertaken to diversify the national economy and reduce its dependence on oil with a view of ensuring sustainable development and economic growth on the long term.
