Description

Globalization has four common interpretations: a specific historical epoch, the confluence of a range of specific economic phenomena, the so-called triumph of “American values,” and a technological and social revolution. Higgott demonstrates the limitations of these views and demonstrates that globalization represents a fundamental shift in the behavior of the modern world economy, with ensuing implications for contemporary world politics. He discusses the growth of economic integration and that of institutional economic cooperation as the two major trends of regionalization, and examines their relationship with globalization.
Higgott argues that the management of the global and regional orders cannot be undertaken separately, and new forms of governance are needed.
