On the Occasion of Zayed Humanitarian Day H.E. Prof. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi: “Zayed’s Humanitarian School is a Permanent Source of Inspiration”

Paying tribute to the Founding Father on Zayed Humanitarian Day, His Excellency Professor Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR), highlighted how the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul in peace) remains an icon of humanitarian work and charity at Arab and global levels. He is a symbol of giving and helping those in need around the world, irrespective of color, gender, religion or race.

Zayed Humanitarian Day is marked on the 19th day of Ramadan each year, commemorating the death of Sheikh Zayed.

H.E. Prof. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi explained how Zayed’s humanitarian school is a permanent source of inspiration for actors in humanitarian and charitable work all over the world. It is an inexhaustible resource, which furthers humanitarian work and charity for the benefit of all. His unique legacy has endured because it was built on moral and cultural foundations that cherish values of solidarity, interdependence, charity and offering aid to less fortunate communities, to help them overcome humanitarian challenges.

H.E. Prof. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi told how Sheikh Zayed founded a unique school of comprehensive humanitarian giving. This has been carried on by the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE (may God protect him). The philosophy is evident whether setting up humanitarian and development initiatives to benefit people worldwide, or launching programs to enhance sustainable development in all fields. It is therefore natural that the UAE is one of the largest international donors of developmental and humanitarian assistance, comparative to its national income.

Furthermore, H.E. Prof. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi stressed that the world today should be inspired by, and adopt, Sheikh Zayed’s values, as we address the challenges and humanitarian crises that impact many areas, leaving millions of victims behind. Sheikh Zayed’s legacy for humanitarian and charity work has seen his name engraved in the hearts and minds of the countless people who have benefited – and still benefit – from his charity projects and initiatives. He rightly deserves his status as a pioneer of humanitarian work globally.

H.E. Prof. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi concluded his tribute to Sheikh Zayed by stating that Zayed Humanitarian Day is a golden opportunity to remind the entire world of his great deeds, offered for the good of all. It is also a chance to highlight Sheikh Zayed’s stellar example, so that humanitarian organizations and countries everywhere exert greater effort for the development and wellbeing of humanity.
