Khalifa Honours Emirati Personalities for their Role in Country's Development

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has conferred the President Merit Award on a number of personalities who have played a vital role in the development of the country.

In a ceremony held today at Al Diyafa Palace in Al Mushrif, and attended by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the honourees received their awards from President Sheikh Khalifa, who said that the U.A.E. had always recognised the efforts of its citizens and their contributions to its progress.

Sheikh Khalifa expressed appreciation to the honoured personalities, deceased or alive, who "worked hard to serve their country, and who deserve to be recognised. This award is a celebration of the great role they played in the service of the U.A.E. and the impact they have made in our lives as Emiratis." The list of honoured persons included, Saeed Mohammed Al Raqbani, Dr. Abdul Raheem Abdullah Jafar Al Zarouni, Dr. Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, Zuhair Ahmed Mohammed Abu Al Adeeb and Rashid Abdullah Omran Al Shamsi.

The award was granted posthumously to the late Jawan Salem Al Dhaheri, the late Butti Humaid bin Bishr Al Marri, the late Thani bin Ahmed Al Muhairi, the late Hamad Khalifa Abu Shihab and the late Salem Mohammed Salem Al Jamri.
