The Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID) will host the Seventh ID World Abu Dhabi Summit on February 24 and 25 at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR). The Summit is endorsed by the European Commission, an Emirates ID statement said.

Government ministers from seven nations, high-profile representatives of the United Nations, the European Commission, the Interpol and other leading organisations from around 35 nations will participate in the Summit, which is organised by Wise Media.

Decision makers, industry leaders and key influencers from around the world will address the summit. It will discuss the latest developments in the fields of advanced identity systems, manufacturing of ‘smart’ ID cards and digital identification systems.

The summit will explore new avenues for sustainable development in the international, regional and local contexts. It will have four different forums — Sustainability and Advanced ID Systems, Future Cities Conference, the Global Migration Summit, and the Abu Dhabi Postal Innovation Conference. Around 30 global companies will exhibit their latest ID technologies on the sidelines of the Summit.

Emirates ID said that the seventh summit will discuss the latest ‘smart ID’ systems and their applications at the global level, the latest developments in ID authentication in the virtual world and the impact of ICT (information and communication technology) on this industry. It will also discuss sustainable development requirements, promoting applied education in advanced ID systems, fostering innovation and promoting public-private collaboration for more sustainable development across the world’s societies and economies.

Emirates ID has called on government and public entities to participate in the Summit which is a unique platform for decision makers in the region to learn from successful experiences on sustainable development.

Sophie B. de la Giroday, President of Wise Media, said that Abu Dhabi has been chosen to host this international event because it’s a city with a vision for a multicultural future society.

The Global ID Summit is held annually in three countries — Italy, Brazil and Germany — in addition to the UAE.
