Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, the Zayed Giving Initiative organized the first conference on heart diseases among women on May 12-14, 2012. The event was held at Sheikh Zayid Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Hall at the ECSSR Building in Abu Dhabi.

A distinguished group of UAE ministers, senior officials, representative from health sectors and consultants from prominent Arab, American and French university hospitals participated at the conference.

The Director General of the ECSSR, His Excellency Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi stressed the Center’s keenness in supporting such important events as they contribute to raising people’s awareness of heart diseases and ways of preventing them. He praised Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for encouraging such initiatives and conferences and for her special interest on matters related to women’s health.

Speaking about the event, Noura Al Suwaidi, the Director of the General Women's Union (GWU) said that Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak always paid special attention to women’s healthcare issues and took initiatives in this field. She lauded Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s efforts in disease prevention and for enhancing women’s healthcare.
