The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) has said that the heinous terrorist attack which targeted the UAE Embassy in the Libyan capital Tripoli recently, was an attempt to undermine UAE-Libyan relations.

In an editorial entitled: "Failure in attempt to affect UAE-Libyan relations", the ECSSR daily bulletin, Akhbar Al Sa'a (News of the Hour), described the attempt as a failure and that it would not be able to affect the strong relationship which developed clearly after the UAE's stance to stand by the will of the Libyan people in the uprising against the regime of Muammar Gaddafi and its support for the transitional period of Libya.

The editorial stressed that Emirati support to Libya is very well appreciated as can be clearly seen in the different reactions to the attack, as the President of the General National Congress of Libya visited the headquarters of the embassy and expressed his apologies and regret for what happened, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the UAE for its support for the Libyan people. The Libyan Foreign Ministry, in a statement, has commended the contribution made by the UAE in support of the Libyan people during the uprising against the former regime.

In conclusion, the bulletin expressed the belief that condemnation from the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States and the Arab League confirms the Gulf and Arab faith in the UAE's positive role in the Libyan scene during this important stage.
