The Threat of Islamist Groups to Intellectual, Military and National Security

  • 9 December 2019

The lecture will discuss the threat of violent and extremist Islamic groups in our Arab world. This threat goes beyond how these organizations view nations. The lecture will examine the concept of the nation state as viewed by these organizations and the danger this view poses for the security of our countries.

It will highlight how these groups pose a security and intellectual threat to our nations, and to the concept of the nation state. The speaker will also identify the common ground that sees these organizations operate under one umbrella.

Recommending practical approaches to counter the threat of extremist organizations, the lecture will also suggest ways to resist their destructive project, which aims to undermine nations and spread chaos in schemes dictated by the beliefs these groups have developed over time. The lecture will also touch on ways to combat the ‘hidden’ or ‘forgotten’ aspects of these organizations; the intellectual aspects, which are the real dangers of terrorism and extremism that allow these ills to spread in our nations on an unprecedented scale.
