The Role of Culture in Promoting Peace, Development and Coexistence

  • 5 January 2020

This lecture explores the definition of culture; its concept, components and sources, as well as the extent of its impact locally and globally. The lecture also explores the characteristics of the strength of Arab culture and the challenges facing the Arab nation from a cultural perspective.

The lecture covers three main points. First, it discusses cultural and societal development, in terms of the active components of culture; how culture fulfills its role as a driver for the development of society, the role decision-makers play in supporting and enriching it, and elements of cultural tourism in relation to social and economic development.

The second point considers culture and peace. It touches on the relationship between the two, the fundamentals of culture’s influence and its role in supporting principles of peace and international cooperation, as well as how culture supports aspects of foreign policy.

The third point examines culture and coexistence, including the impact of culture on cooperation and tolerance, and the role it plays in consolidating coexistence.
