This symposium was held in accordance with ECSSR's commitment to study issues of local and regional interest. It aimed at examining current Islamic movements and organizations in the Arab world and their relation to society and state. It also discussed the role of Islamic movements in the political stability of the Arab world and the possible implications of regional and international developments on the future of these movements.
