The Implications of GATT and the Future of the Arab Economy

The Implications of GATT and the Future of the Arab Economy

  • 7 May 1996

The lecture started out with defining the GATT
Agreement together with the latest developments
in the Arab economies. This paved the way for a
discussion, which focused on three political aspects of
direct interest to the GCC countries.
The speaker then underlined the importance of
studying these consequences in order to avoid the
negative effects and make use out of the adjustment
periods made available to the developing countries.
He also stressed the rebuilding and strengthening of
the basic Arab cooperation principles in the face of
these effects.
