Education for and in the 21st Century

  • 15 March 1997

The twentieth century saw education spreading to
every corner of the world and all sectors of society.
The speaker discussed the expansion and change
in the role of higher education from the broad to a
more specialized system, and the developments in
knowledge and educational systems, the diversity of
equipment and the widespread use of new information
technologies.
With the end of the twentieth century, education
experts of today consider that substantial reform in the
approach to education is imperative.
The speaker recommended that character building
be emphasized and that education return to a more
general system and become more international,
emphasizing teacher and student exchange programs
and the rapid transfer of knowledge.
