  • 12 March 1996

Over the past three decades, the Gulf region enjoyed
rapid economic development and expansion in
natural and human resources. According to the
1995 UNDP Human Development Index, the UAE
was among the states that achieved the highest
comprehensive human development in terms of per
capita GDP, standard of education and average life
expectancy.
The lecture discussed the contribution of the
UNDP to salient developmental areas, including
the formulation of regional programs to analyze
the expertise of Arab countries in the field of public
administration, and UNDP support for a number
of initiatives aimed at reinforcing the capacity of
the UAE government to formulate development
strategies.
