The speaker started by indicating that the recent
advances in media technology in the Arab world were
only the beginning of a technological revolution in the
field of media. There are several ongoing initiatives
internationally that will lead to a revolution in the field
of information technology.
He dealt with the extent/scope of the technological
impact on the production and services of the three
main forms of media, namely newspapers, television
and radio.
He concluded that the Arab world faces formidable
challenges because of the technological revolution.
Several steps need to be taken, particularly since the
Arab world possesses human resources and Arab
communities living abroad that can participate strongly
in the information revolution. Education in the Arab
world needs to be emphasized more. Tremendous
development is necessary to possess the ability to
confront the above-mentioned challenges.
