received much attention from researchers, decision
makers, politicians and businessmen. After the Uruguay
Round, the world began to establish the World Trade
Organization, with countries racing to become a part
of this global forum. The lecture presented a historical
overview of the GATT Agreement, its main principles
and goals, its achievements and the issues it faced.
The lecture concluded by pointing out the benefits
and impacts for the GCC, particularly the UAE,
associated with the GATT Agreement and the World
Trade Organization.
