Zayed and the National Security of the United Arab Emirates

  • 25 July 2018

The lecture discusses the role of the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul in peace) in establishing the basic values and interests related to the national security of the nation, which His Highness unified under one banner on December 2, 1971. These values have been crucial for securing the existence of the United Arab Emirates and its vital role.

The lecture further discusses the internal and external threats that have been faced by the UAE with regards to its national security. The lecture presents a comprehensive vision of the national security of the UAE, taking into account the absence of a theoretical review of national security analysis of the UAE until now. This lecture deals with the need for developing awareness of the UAE’s national security threats in the second decade of the 21st century, which has witnessed major unrest and comprehensive changes in the Middle East, to which the UAE is not immune.
