ISIL: A Path to a New Middle East

In this lecture, writer and journalist Mustafa Bakri spoke about the motivations and objectives for the emergence of the terrorist organization ISIL, the intellectual and ideological foundations of the organization, and its association to international and regional schemes that aim to fragment the region into sectarian and ethnic mini-states in the framework of the so-called ‘new’ Middle East. During the lecture, Mr. Bakri presented his vision of the future scenario of events in the region in light of the objectives of international counter-terrorism coalition. The lecture was delivered at the ECSSR office complex in Abu Dhabi.
