In his lecture entitled “Moral Education as the Basis for Building Nations,” Dr. Ali bin Tamim will examine the conceptual evolution of moral education, including its philosophical roots (as envisaged by the ancient Greek philosophers), its association with building society and the nation, and the relationship between the two. Dr. Tamim will explore the opinions of various philosophers, sociologists and thinkers concerning this topic, including the question of ethics among Arabs and Muslims. He will also distinguish between the social, philosophical and political dimensions of moral education on the one hand and its religious dimension on the other.

Dr. Tamim will then discuss the important role moral education plays in today’s complicated society, which has turned the concept of national identity into a potential source of threat.

The lecture will also cover the new Moral Education Initiative, as envisioned by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces (may God protect him), and how this initiative can overcome various challenges. Finally, Dr. Tamim will propose effective and sustainable solutions.
