National Strategy in the Political Philosophy of H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE

The Arab world has witnessed crucial situations and
momentous events, which required prudence,
determination, solidarity, consensus as well as a collective
stand on major international developments. His Highness
the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s judgment of
the situation in the Arab world in light of recent events has
proved sound and perceptive. He genuinely believed in
Pan-Arabism, Arab unity and solidarity; and he exhibited
true attachment to the homeland with a high appreciation
of the heritage and glorious past of his ancestors. Thus, he
had formulated a strategy that underlines the importance
of Arab unity for future generations. He has also stressed
that major powers of the world can protect only their
interests by virtue of their strength and independence.
Thus, the Arab world has to be united in order to be able
to freely decide their most favorable course of action.
His Highness the late Sheikh Zayed was clearly aware of
prevailing political trends and realized that the policy of the
superpowers is based on their own interests, without regard
for the values, customs or the rights of other nations. Thus
HH Sheikh Zayed sought to achieve Arab unity as it gives
the Arab world the strength and sovereignty it needs in a
world ruled by the powerful. In this context, he said “Our
nation has to be strong in order to be reckoned with; the
world only takes the powerful into account.” To this end,
the late Sheikh Zayed has always called for Arab unity and
solidarity and has successfully tackled several Arab issues
with his wisdom and insight.
