Tolerance in the United Arab Emirates

Tolerance in the United Arab Emirates

  • 16 November 2016

This lecture aimed to shed light on the UAE’s tolerance strategy, which is based on the national tolerance program that was approved by the Cabinet in June 2016. The UAE embraces solid fundamentals through which it is committed to strengthening its relations on a basis of mutual respect, understanding, dialogue, cooperation; and shunning all forms of terrorism, violence, and extremism.

By adopting the tolerance strategy, the UAE seeks to ensure the continuous solidification of the values of tolerance, coexistence, peace, respect for multiculturalism, and acceptance of the other across the intellectual, cultural, religious, and sectarian levels, on the one hand; while rejecting violence, extremism, terrorism, hatred, bigotry, discrimination and exclusion, on the other.

The speaker addressed the foundations upon which the national tolerance program was established and the program’s main aspects and initiatives, in addition to the measures set by the UAE in order to enhance the values of tolerance, harmony, and the condemnation of violence and extremism locally, regionally, and globally.
