In his lecture, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Shamsi emphasized that investing in the right infrastructure and undertaking reforms in education and curricula are essential if the leadership’s vision of building a knowledge-based economy for the UAE by 2030 is to be achieved. He said that these changes should be in sync with technological advances and intellectual development for the younger generation.
The speaker said that educational policies and guidelines must take into account a number of challenges facing the knowledge economy. He stressed that educational reforms should be done keeping in mind the changes that are taking place in the intellectual sphere of the present generation, which happens to be one of the most important challenges facing modern societies. He emphasized a global competition is going on today in the sphere of knowledge and education.
Dr. Abdullatif Al-Shamsi added countries around the world are laying greater emphasis on the education of Information Technology and are trying to build a conducive and interactive atmosphere for its education. He said the new style of education seeks to evoke interest and curiosity of students in the rapidly advancing IT revolution and are using more and more technology to this end. The speaker called for a new vision for qualitative education system, which makes learning more creative and exciting.
