From Pain to Hope: Achieving Peace and Human Dignity in the Middle East

I believe that the most important factor required to move forward in life is to know exactly what you want and to have a plan to achieve your goals, regardless of the challenges you face.

Since my childhood, I have realized that my suffering as well as all other suffering in this world is caused almost entirely by human beings. Nevertheless, hope is also produced by people and life has taught me that nothing is impossible. Throughout the years, I have come to know the meaning of suffering, the loss of loved ones and the concept of security and peace.

As a physician, I have learned the meaning of life and death, and how a human being is born and dies. I have seen hope in the birth of newborns and have witnessed the passing of my three daughters, who died as martyrs. I have found solace in having faith, being patient, anticipating God’s reward, being liberated from fear, acting responsibly, and moving on.

We need to strengthen our children through education, understanding and resilience. We need to strengthen our will and desire to face challenges and seize opportunities whenever they arise. This will help us achieve the security and peace that we all seek. We need to cooperate to achieve security, freedom and justice for all—only in this way can we ensure peace for all.
