The lectured showed how the media in the Arab Gulf states is increasingly witnessing freedom of the press and freedom of speech. The media is seeking to keep pace with new technology. The study urged more independence for the Gulf press, to enable it to contribute through active criticism. The lecture also focused on the role of the Kuwaiti media after nine years of liberation. It showed how media reports could project major national issues such as missing POWs and how the media could coordinate its efforts.
