  • 1 February 2017

Media is one of many important tools that governments and regimes rely on to implement their domestic and foreign policies. When forming their strategic plans, governments use media as an important tool to achieve their goals. Therefore, it is important to pay close attention to the development of the strategic plans of the media sector.

By applying this to the Iranian media strategy, an observer of Iranian media outlets cannot but notice that the Iranian regime uses media to convey its messages at both national and international levels. The use of language and the careful choice of words and phrases are effective tools that serve this strategy and highly contribute to the overall agenda of the Iranian regime.

Given the importance of this aspect and its effects beyond Iranian borders, this lecture will shed light on the concepts, fields and goals of the media strategy. The speaker will then explore the Iranian media strategy and provide a number of examples to demonstrate how language and images are used to achieve those desired goals.
