Gulf Security in the Thoughts of Sheikh Zayed

  • 7 November 2018

This lecture highlighted the thought of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul in peace) on the security of the Gulf Arab States. It suggested some answers to a number of questions such as: how were the regional policies of major powers in the Arabian Gulf region? How was the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan about the security of the Gulf Arab States? And how did he deal with the security events witnessed by the region? The lecture also discussed international and regional policies and events seen by the Arabian Gulf region and explained the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul in peace) about the security and stability of the Gulf, as reflected by his reform policy; his courage and frankness in stating his opinion; and his self-confidence and prudence in making decisions. These qualities earned him respect throughout the world and made him an impartial, fair, and honest mediator in resolving conflicts and disputes at the Arab and Muslim levels. In addition, Sheikh Zayed’s sense of patriotism made him view the unity of the Gulf as the dearest hope of the people of the region. As a result, he was always keen to distance the region from ambitions and conflicts of major powers.
