GCC: Fifth Decade Perspectives

As we mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) and the announcement about this establishment from Abu Dhabi on 25 May 1981, the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR), held a virtual dialogue session, titled: “The Gulf Cooperation Council: Fifth Decade Perspectives” with H.E. Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. The session was run by H.E. Dr. Sultan Mohammed Al Nuaimi, ECSSR Director General. In this session, His Excellency Dr. Al-Hajraf gave his insights and perspectives about how to enhance the GCC States partnership in the GCC’s fifth decade amidst the current regional and international hot issues and what are the GCC prospects. The session covered the following key topics:

1. The key features of the GCC’s last four decades.
2. The tools of the GCC power.
3. The GCC’s social, economic and political roles.
4. The GCC’s strategies for the fifth decade.
5. The GCC’s role in regional issues.
