Empowering Emirati Women in Parliamentary Action

In her lecture, H.E. Eng. Azza Sulaiman bin Sulaiman touches on the UAE’s journey as it moves from empowering women to empowering society through women. She discusses the leadership philosophy underpinning UAE women’s achievements in the area of political empowerment, explaining that UAE women’s experiences today are still a dream for many around the globe. This is particularly the case regarding the role women play in the UAE parliamentary process and women’s empowerment in the UAE Federal National Council (FNC). 

H.E. Eng. Azza Sulaiman bin Sulaiman also sheds light on the role H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), plays in this process. Her contributions have helped realize many remarkable achievements and world records, providing an environment conducive to supporting and politically empowering UAE women. H.E. Eng. Azza Sulaiman bin Sulaiman also presents aspects of her own experiences in parliamentary work, and her views on the opportunities available to UAE women to achieve greatness, for the sake of the nation and themselves.
