ECSSR Participates in Alexandria International Football

Championship for Journalists & Media

A football team representing the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) has taken part in Alexandria International Football Championship for Journalists & Media, competing against many Arab and non-Arab teams. The championship was organized in Alexandria, Egypt, by the Egyptian Football Association. The event was held in Egypt for the first time after being organized in Europe for over 11 years.

The championship was a unique gathering of people belonging to various cultural, media and sporting arenas across the Arab world. Several prominent teams took part in the championship during which matches were played at various stadia belonging to Alexandria Sporting Club. Besides the ECSSR, teams representing Library of Alexandria and from various countries including Greece, Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus, and Georgia participated in the competition.

The ECSSR’s participation in the event, under the directives of His Excellency Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the Center, shows his keenness to promote a culture of sporting excellence in the Center. Participation such as this yields several other benefits including implementation of cooperation agreements and strengthening of relations between the ECSSR, media institutions and sporting and cultural events at national, regional and international levels.
