ECSSR Hosts Training Course on Comprehensive Quality
Management Applications in Public Sector and Zakat Institutions

As part of its continuous efforts to build bridges of cooperation with institutions and agencies in the UAE, the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) hosted a training course named ‘Comprehensive Quality Management Applications in Public Sector and Zakat Institutions’. The course, which was organized by the UAE Zakat Fund, witnessed participation of representatives of GCC Zakat Funds and continued for four days.

The definition of quality and its various stages of development were discussed during the various sessions of the course in addition to basic characteristics of the quality of services. The various concepts of comprehensive quality management, excellence and institutional leadership were also discussed during the course. The training course was aimed at including practical exercise in the application of concepts of quality of services and their characteristics.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Aqeeda Al-Muhairi, Secretary General of the UAE Zakat Fund, attended the opening of the training course for the representatives of GCC Zakat Funds and welcomed them in their second homeland, the UAE. He said that the holding of this event showcases the harmony and unity of hearts before anything else. It also shows the efforts being made to fulfill the obligation of Zakat and to achieve the highest quality standards and excellence in serving it, which has a substantially important socioeconomic effect.

Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Abdullah bin Aqeeda Al-Muhairi said: “it gives me great pleasure to convey to you the greetings of His Excellency Dr. Sultan Saeed Al-Badi, Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Board of Directors, members of the Board and the whole staff of the UAE Zakat Fund.” He said that the organizers of this training course, as part of the Third Joint Training Plan (2013-2015) of the GCC Zakat institutions, are aware that the success of various government agencies in performing their tasks with efficiency requires making quality paramount in the government sector and that the change in the working methods should meet the requirements of comprehensive quality management applications.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Aqeeda Al-Muhairi also said that the government sector in Gulf countries has access to infrastructure, equipment and systems. Also, the administrative leaderships and employees of various government organizations are committed to becoming the model of comprehensive quality in order to achieve a comprehensive national commitment based on national standards. He pointed out that the GCC Zakat institutions would not have achieved so much without benefiting from each other’s experiences, making use of expertise of each party by transferring experiences of excellence to other parties.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Aqeeda Al-Muhairi wished that the participants would take full advantage of this training course and have an enjoyable stay in the UAE. He thanked them for attending this workshop, which would help in the improvement of Zakat services. “May God bestow good upon you for all these efforts exerted in the service of Zakat,” he said.

The ECSSR hosting this training course, in its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, was part of its ongoing efforts to serve the community and sponsor and support different scientific and knowledge activities. This was also in line with the ECSSR’s continuous cooperation with various government agencies to serve the community and decision makers in the UAE.
