On this occasion, H.E. Prof. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the ECSSR and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rahma, expressed his pleasure at this participation, stressing that it comes within the context of the Society’s interest to participate in various national events held in the United Arab Emirates. This increases Rahma’s ability to communicate directly with all members of the community, and enables it to carry out its mission. His Excellency also reiterated that Rahma will not hold back from participating in such events that represent a real opportunity to connect and engage with various segments of the UAE community.
During the event, the Society, in cooperation with the management of the Bawabat Al Sharq Mall, launched a breast cancer awareness campaign through lectures delivered by specialized doctors and cancer survivors; it also distributed awareness leaflets and free check coupons for women, as well as familiarized people with Rahma, its objectives, and services.
As part of its efforts to give the chance to cancer survivors to share their experiences for the benefit of others, Rahma presented one of the most prominent cancer survivors¾Ms. Sarah Al-Shaibani, who spoke during the event and shared with the audience her story and struggle against cancer.
During the event, the Society also informed the audience of its various efforts to support cancer patients financially and morally to ease their suffering and help them overcome this disease. In addition, Rahma explained its other events, especially those aiming at raising awareness about cancer and how to prevent it, such as lectures organized and attended by specialists who provide advice to help avoid this disease.Furthermore, the Society urged visitors and participants to give donations so that it can achieve its objectives. The Society stressed that the collected donations represent an important resource to enable it to achieve its mission toward cancer patients and their families; especially that it is fully committed to pay the costs of treatment for some cases that face financial difficulties. Also, the Society works to speed up its response to cases it receives, which are in need of help.It is noteworthy that the Cancer Patient Care Society-Rahma was founded in September 2015, in the context of supporting the efforts of the UAE, in general, and the Government of Abu Dhabi, in particular, to fight cancer. The Society seeks to achieve a number of objectives, including mobilizing the resources of the community to serve and support cancer patients by opening the door to volunteering and joining the Society, providing information to help patients to better understand the nature of their disease and the most appropriate treatment options; educating families and friends about how to provide better support and care for cancer patients; contributing to educating the community about the dangers of cancer, its causes, and prevention; as well as providing a comprehensive and inclusive database of cancer treatment centers locally and internationally.
