Akhbar Al Sa'a: UAE Global Pioneer

The Akhbar Al Sa'a (News of the Hour) Bulletin, has said that every day, the U.A.E. proves that it is a top achiever in all fields, pointing out the U.A.E.'s landmark progress in the latest Global Competitiveness Report (GCR) 2014-2015 issued by the World Economic Forum (Davos).

The U.A.E. advanced seven places in the overall competitiveness of its economy within just one year, becoming the 12th most competitive nation globally, after ranking in 19th position last year, and now is ranked first in the world in terms of the high quality of its roads on the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) for 2014-2015 and in the absence of organised crime, as well as in the lack of inflation.

The U.A.E. ranked in second position globally in government procurement of advanced technology, government spending, the quality of infrastructure in the aviation sector and the lack of trade barriers. The nation ranked third position globally in term of citizens confidence of the government and leadership, lack of government bureaucracy, quality of ports, efficiency of customs procedures and attracting technology through direct foreign investment, as well as attracting specialised talent in building the knowledge economy.

The bulletin stated that all these achievements have been attained thanks to the wise policies of the government and the directives of the wise leaders, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Vice President and Prime Minister of U.A.E., and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The bulletin, issued by the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research, ECSSR, said that the Global Competitiveness Report 2014-2015 assesses the competitiveness landscape of 144 economies, providing insight into the drivers of their productivity and prosperity.

The report series remains the most comprehensive assessment of national competitiveness worldwide.
