Akhbar Al Sa'a: Promotion of Peace in Muslim Societies

  • 9 March 2014

Under the title: "Promotion of Peace in Muslim Societies" the Akhbar Al Sa'a (News of the Hour) Bulletin said that in continuation of the leadership role of the U.A.E. to face extremism and intolerance, and its active efforts in order to promote values of tolerance, coexistence and peace, the State is hosting the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies which opened today in Abu Dhabi and runs until tomorrow under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, with the participation of an elite group of leading Islamic scholars, academics and thought leaders from various Islamic countries of the world.

With the heading: "Promotion of Peace in Muslim Societies", the bulletin highlighted that this forum is now added to the U.A.E.'s record of initiatives and attitudes against terrorism, which it says is the biggest threat to the security of Muslim communities and their ability to achieve development for their peoples and for peace and stability in the whole world.

The bulletin, issued by the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research, ECSSR, said that H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, affirmed that the Forum represents a first attempt at a global level to draw a roadmap forward for Muslim communities in order to live in peace and harmony according to the fundamental principles of Islam, in harmony with universal concepts, without doubts or issues, and this reveals the great importance of this forum in terms of content and timing.

In conclusion, the bulletin highlighted that in light of all this it was necessary to move and not to wait, because the imminent threat is targeting everyone, and the U.A.E. has always taken the initiative. Through organising the forum "Promotion of Peace in Muslim Societies", it aims to form a unified front against "the scourge of extremist ideologies, sectarianism, and terrorism that has afflicted the Muslim world for decades."
